August Layouts and Video Tutorial by Jessica

"Our Story"

Hi everyone!  My first layout I want to share with you this August features the Tattered Walls Collection and I included a video tutorial that you can find below.

The main background paper is "The Reading Room" and I added a strip of "The Garage" paper.

The Our Story chipboard was first given a coat of gesso, then painted with white acrylic paint.  Next I embossed the whole title with Pearl embossing powder.  Then using the Super Grunge stamp, I embossed the title with Ivory embossing powder.  I love the effect!  The Bits of Honey chipboard pieces were embossed with Fern embossing powder.

The red rose buds are actually from the Homespun Blooms flowers that I took apart and made into rose buds (you can see it in my tutorial).  The rest of the flowers on the page are from the Homespun Blossoms collection and look really nice with the colors in the picture.  Below the flower you are able to see the Green Ivory embossing powder that I used with the Crackle Textures stamp.  You can also see the Marine glitter on the flowers and Lemonade Seedlings that I added around the flowered areas and other spots around the picture.

In this picture you can see more details and see the Tattered Newsprint stamping that I did around the picture.

The Tattered Walls Ephemera was a nice touch to accent the areas around my picture.

And now, here is the video tutorial I created.  I hope you find it helpful and fun. :-)

"Love This Moment"

My second layout for August also features the Tattered Walls collection.  My background paper is "The Maid's Room" from the Tattered Walls Collection.  I wanted to use the colors blue, red, and yellow so I chose blue as the dominant color, red is the secondary color, then tiny bits of golden yellow as accents.  On three small areas on the background, I used matte gel and a soft floral stencil, then sprinkled some Beating Heart seedlings and some Blue Ice glitter over top.

The title chipboard Love This Moment was first embossed with Azul embossing powder.  Then I embossed over it with Pearl embossing powder.  This seemed to soften the sparkles from the Azul embossing powder.  On this side of the picture, the white flower is from the Christmas Blooms set.  I created the two red rose buds on this page by separating the pieces of one of the Homespun Blooms and folding them into place.  I did the same thing with the off-white Chesterville Florals flower to make some rose buds.

In this picture you can see more of the Beating Heart seedlings surrounding some tiny accent flowers I had from my stash.  The oval frame chipboard piece under my picture was cut in half (to fit the size of my picture) and embossed with Azul embossing powder.  The Gold Nugget seedlings add the touch of golden yellow that I wanted for the layout.

I used the Journaling Cards stamps on watercolor paper and embossed them with Azul Embossing Powder (and added the bits of Gold Nugget Seedlings).  The Card to the left of the picture has a piece of Tattered Walls Ephemera under it for dimension.

The two off-white flowers are both part of the Chesterville Florals set.  The red rose bud was made from one of the Homespun Blooms.  And the blue flower is from the Dark Tropic Lilies set.

Hi Blue Fern Studios fan,

I am verry excited to share my 2 layouts made from the brand new collection Amber & Apricot.

For my first layout, I wanted to create a deep and romantic layout.

I embosed the Krystal's frame large with Copper embossing powder and the Krystal's frame small with Honey embossing powder
Than I use pieces from Faded Bloom and Yesteryear papers to create dimention.
I use the Bits of honey stamp kit to add texture to my background.
I use some chipbaord of the coordinated chipboard to embellish my layout.
And I use the Apricot bloom,  Chestervill bloom and Garden life flowers to decorate my layout.
For the final touch, I use the Paprika and Mustard seedling un top of my ornements.

June Projects by Lydia Guijt

Hello Blue Fern Studios and paper friends.

This is my last month on the Design Team and it's been a great time. I would like to thank Blue Fern Studios for giving me this wonderful opportunity and their great support.

For this month I have made a canvas and 2 layouts.
For the canvas I used the Happy Accident  Collection and for the 2 layouts the brand new beautiful Garden Life Collection

Let's get started!

Canvas

I started of with painting the sides of the canvas with some acrylic, with a second dry-brush coat in blue. Once this was dry I used the Tattered News Print Stamp randomly for some effect.
The front of the canvas I covered with Happy Accident : Fluke with on top a smaller piece from the same sheet, distressed at the edges. Again I used the Tattered News Print Stamp for some details around the canvas and used a stencil with Graphite paste to create texture.

The Blue Fern Studios chipboard pieces Stick Stacks are embossed with Starry Night to pick up the beautiful light blue from the paper. Having done my preparations it's time to start my layers.

Happy Accident is the first collection to have it's own accompanying Printed Chipboard Shapes sheet and it makes for a wonderful way to add layers, features and titles to your projects. For my canvas I made great use of them.

Also adding ribbon, lace, netting and thread to the mix before finishing off the project with the gorgeous Chesterville Florals and Blooms.

The End of a Perfect Day

At the end of May we had a great trip to Disney World it had been quite a while since the last time we had been there, but no matter what age, it's always great. Even Tinkerbell joined in for fun!

For this layout I used the brand new Garden Life Collection. The Felicity page for the background and Calling Cards pieces for layering. For the background work I used the Tattered News Print and the Tattered Harlequin stamp, a stencil and mists.

The Honey Bits chipboard pieces are embossed with a mixture of a few embossing powders. Sunlight RoseMorning SunPink Dust & Copper.
The other chipboard pieces, Graduated Circles, Perfect Day, Roman Clock were first embossed with Sand & Sea with a second coat of Iridescent Grey giving it a beautiful sparkle.

Now that we have prepared all the parts it's time to put the layout together. Stacking the pieces of  embossed chipboard, Garden Life - Printed Chipboard Shapes, pieces of paper and the beautiful Blue Fern Studios flowers, Garden FloralsHarvest Lilies & Chesterville Blooms

Disney World

On one of the evenings in Disney World we so enjoyed the fireworks. What a show they put on. The castle has this spectacular light show and with the fabulous music it's just perfect.

For this photo I chose the Garden Life : Calling Cards sheet as the base of my layout. To continue on the fireworks I used the Christmas Collage Stamp and used it with a silver ink and Antique Gold Embossing Powder. A large diamond stencil with a mixture of gold & silver paste and some white gesso to give the background texture.

The Floral Lattice Bits were first embossed with Sand & Sea Embossing Powder and a second layer with Iridescent Grey. The Seeing Stars and Disneyworld chipboard pieces first got a Antique Gold coat with embossing powder and then a second layer with Goldenrod Glitter.

Having prepared all the pieces I postioned them on the page where I wanted them and layered everything. Adding embellishments and Blue Fern Studios flowers Spring Florals and Garden Blooms. As finishing touches I splattered a variety of mists.

May projects by Tartine Peluche

Hi everyone!
I'm so happy to show you my projects for this month.
I created 3 layouts with 2 differents collections including 2 with the new Happy Accident papers.
They are really stunning!

So let's start with the first one.

Make time for moment

For my first layout I used Quirk paper from Happy Accident collection.

I used Starry Night embossing powder for my title Moment.
A little yellow flower from Attic Charm Daisy. I also added some pieces of new Happy Accident Chipboard.

For this layout I have used two main chipboard:
Floral Medley Frame that I have cut in four pieces,
two for the photo frame and two others to create dimension under picture.
I embossed it with a mixt of powder, Seven Seas and Stormy Skies.
At the end I have putted some gesso on it.
Bits of Honey that I have embossed with 14karats embossing powder. I also used the negative that I have to do the same process with embossing powder and after I colorized the outlines with black solvant ink.
You can see on this pictur that I've used Scratched stamps with yellow ink, and Postal Texture with black ink.

For finish this layout I added some flowers and others negative chipboard of Bits Of Honey.
This tiny blue flowers are from Chesterville Blooms, my favorite flowers so far, very beautiful, and working with her is a pleasure. And this wonderful yellow flower, is from Happy Blooms, matching with new collection Happy Accident.
We can see on this one , that I've used Crackle Texture stamp with blue solvant ink.

Fairytale

For my second layout of mont, I chose Blessing paper from Happy Accident collection.

The main chipboard on this layout is Barb's Medallion, I've cut it in two pieces, because it's tiny and I wanted to see it on either side of the photo. I embossed it with a mix of new
colors from Spring Parade collection, Morning Sun and Speckled Mint.
Below all element , I placed two frames that I've create
with cardstock and two pieces of Fortuity paper.

I chose to work with peach flowers on this layout, for this I've taked
Happy Roses from Happy Accident and Chesterville Blooms from Chesterville Collection.
I know it's not from Blue fern Studio products but I really love my tiny message bottle... from my hand :) Just a few beads and a small roll paper ...

My chipboard title Fairytale is emboss with the same mixt than
my chipboard Barb's Medallion, Morning Sun and Speckled Mint coordinated with Spring Parade collection.

Have you see my tiny turtle? I'm in love with her... ;)
Those who know my work, know that I am very detailed as an artist.

Magic

I finish my post with my most detailed in paper, layout...
All this page was created with the paper of the Collection Autumn Anthologie.
I took the Cottage paper and Robin paper for create my background.

I used Crackles Textures stamp with brown solvant ink and stencil of crackle.

 .

With my Oatmeal embossing powder, I altered my chipboard title Dream and my Ruth's Doily.
Because we can see only half of the doily, I cut it in two pieces. I will use the other part on another layout.
In white, are some parts of Rose Frame chipboard, that I've embossed with Snow embossing powder.
A few having some mini beads before embossing, for texture.

 .

I used blue flowers from Chesterville Blooms and loght cream flower of Harvest Lilies.
With some paper ripped from Robin paper, I create a femce.
I cut a bird ans several flowers on the paper Mercantile and Robin.
With my Postal Texture stamp, I made a label.

And the next close up is for show all the flowers cutted.

"Happiness" by our Fan of the Month

It's Wednesday, so we are back with another layout from our Fan of the Month, Patty Rogers.
This week, she has created this sweet Easter layout.  We will let Patty tell you all about it.

Hi everyone! It's Patty again with another layout for the Spring Parade collection. I enjoyed working with these Blue Fern Studio Products so much that I made a process video while working on this piece. You can watch it below.

>

You can see some of the layering and distressing in the photo below. The title word, "Happiness" is from the Good Vibes chipboard set. I love the way it gracefully curves over the photo so beautifully.

You can see where I tore the papers diagonally and popped them up. I may have had
too much fun with my layering, if there is such a thing!  Using a stencil and modeling paste,
I added texture to the background before splattering gold paint.

Here, you can see the pretty egg chipboard pieces. They are lovely and I thought it
would be perfect to hang them by a chain that I stamped on the background paper.
The chain stamp is from the "Forever" clear stamp.

Fussy cutting appears on most of my work and the little bunny from "Spring Parade" is adorable!
To me, it is important to not allow the white middle part of the paper to be seen,
so I use markers to blend the colors along the edges.

I decided to use "Bits of Honey" on this layout and when working with the little hexagons, I was inspired to use them in a different way than ever before. The little hexagon had already been embossed and I was holding it with my tweezers when it jumped up and landed on a piece of cheese cloth! Brilliant! I glued it to the cheesecloth! Perhaps it was divine intervention...or maybe there was simply too much pressure from the tweezers! Too bad I can't take credit for that 3-D inspiration! It looked as if it was floating, so I did the same with two more hexagonal pieces.

Hope you enjoy the process video.....see you next time!......Patty
