Dreaming with You & Me

Hello friends!

We are now into the second month of 2015 and it's my turn on the Blue Fern Studios blog today to share my creations with their fabulous products. For today's post, I'm going back to my favourite collection Ombre Dreams.

Here is the layout I made of my two boys (who else?):

As usual, layering different BFS chipboard pieces and papers from the Ombre Dreams collection. As you watch the video, you would also have noticed that I changed the order of my workflow. Instead of working on the background first, I am now starting with the chipboards then my layers, so that I can use that bit for working out the best way to create the background.

September Sketch with Jelissa and a Start to Finish Video

Hello there friends!

We're in September, and how fast time has past! Today I'm sharing with you my take on Blue Fern Studios' September sketch challenge as part of my video education post.

Here is the wonderful sketch by Michelle:

And my interpretation of it:

That's my cat again as I realised I havn't scrapped much photos of my pets. I have lots of my children though and to many, they are one and the same. I've used the beautiful papers from Ombre Dreams, as well as some lovely chipboards like the Jeweled Frame, Framed Trinkets, a corner from the Rose Frame and a piece of the Lace Rounds.

Some closeups:

Here's the video of how I put this page together, on the Blue Fern Studios Youtube channel.

I hope you've enjoyed watching the video. And remember to subscribe to our Youtube channel and also drop again by the Blue Fern Studios blog for more inspiration from the rest of the lovely DT.

July colours with Jelissa

Hello friends!

I'm in today to share two projects I've created for Blue Fern Studios, using the Ombre Dreams paper collection, as well as their beautiful chipboard pieces.

Lucky

My first project is a layout of my two boys.

I've used Charlotte's Dream from the Ombre Dreams collection as my background paper and added some misting, masking with texture paste and random stamping to further highlight the beautiful watercolor effects already printed on the paper itself. I also used a cut out from Dream Cards as a subtitle.

The "Lucky" chippie from Charmed Page Dangles was cut into two pieces and the word used as my title. I did some heat embossing in black and smeared purple dimensional paint over for highlight.

The other half of the chipboard was first colored with gelato, followed by some stamping with Versamark and heat-embossing.

I used only one piece of the Honeycomb bits here, but snipped it into three parts which I layered throughout my page. It was first misted followed by random sprinkling with a mauve-tinted embossing powder.

All Dressed Up

My second project is a mixed media canvas I made as a birthday gift for a very talented friend who runs her own fashion designing label.

When I saw the Sweetheart dress form, I knew it was meant for her and there is also a similar mannequin on display in her office reception.

The chipboard was covered with gesso and I made a dress out of some organza curtain fabric, which I decorated with some tulle and organza roses, aqua sequins and mini paper roses. I also snipped the Majestic Frame in half and covered it with gold glitter.

My little cluster here is full of bits from the Miss Tailor set. I covered the spool with a fine layer of gold shimmer. The buttons I used Liquid Pearls and for the scissors I used my gold textured paste. The other half of the majestic frame is tucked beneath the flowers and also dipped in gold glitter.

That's all I have for today. Do check back soon for more inspiration from the rest of the lovely DT!

The Many Shades of Ombre Dreams w/Erin Blegen

Good morning!

I'm here today to share with you three different projects I created this month using the gorgeous Ombre Dreams collection! I just can't get over how beautiful these papers are, and what a delight to put them to work! There's such a beautiful array of colors available in this range that I decided to spotlight a different palette in each of my projects...

"My Boy"
I LOVE the watercolor-y washed out seashore shades in the "Ginger's Dream" paper, which I chose to use as my background for this photo of my middle child at the beach. And layered in pieces behind my photo are some more blues from the "Susan's Dream" paper.

I chose to feature the Roman Clock Set- Small on my layout as well. This set can be split up into three different clocks (along with hands); I chose the largest of the clocks, cut it in half, dabbed it with white chalk ink, and used them to really set the design of my page.

"Thoughts" Card
Next up, I went with two more fabulous papers that are predominantly purple, while offering hints of many other colors including green, blue, pink, turquoise, and more: Joyce's Dream and Dream Cards. It was very difficult not to use some mixed media on the background of this card, but I really wanted to show off the lovely delicate patterns :)

The butterfly piece you see here is from the "Tattered Butterfly" set, which features 4 butterflies in various sizes. I just love the intricate detail in this butterfly design. I decided to go with a random smattering of embossing enamel which was set with a heat gun. Embossing enamel offers a great mix of color and texture which catch the light beautifully! For even more sparkle, I added a pretty crystal to the center.

Since I had my Roman Clock pieces out, I went with one of the smaller pieces in the set here. First I painted it with a lilac shade of acrylic paint and, while still wet, dusted it with a sparkly white embossing powder to give it a pretty frosted look.

"Discover" Card
Finally, we have some orange/peach/pinks to feature! The Shannon's Dream paper is full of tropical citrus colors and dreamy floral patterns.

The Wild Flourish Bundle chipboard piece was just what I needed to set the foundation for my cluster on this card. It was covered with a pale yellow chalk ink, embossed with clear embossing powder, and accented with some bling.

'Best of times' by Lisa Griffith

Hello BFS fans! It's my turn to share my projects with you today.

I know you've seen by now the new 'Ombre Dreams'. I really love the rainbow of
colors in this collection, and I also totally love how the BFS chipboard patterns are
echoed very softly in these beautiful papers. I have enjoyed working with them so much.

In honour of Father's Day this month I wanted to create a lo with a photo of my Dad.
I found this photo of when my parents visited us when we were living on Miami Beach.
The photo was many years ago but I still remember everything we did that day ;)

Here are a few close ups....

I used the paper called 'Ginger's Dream' for my background, and pieces of 'Dream Cards'
as layers under my photo. I also used 'Turkish Panel' , 'Memory Frames' and a piece of
'Sail Away' which I painted white and then sprayed lightly with colored mists.

My next project is a card I made for my mum using a photo of her when she was young.

I wanted to make her something really pink and shabby and the paper 'Shannon's
Dream' was so perfect for this! I started with masking with gesso and then used
pink and gold mists. I used some pieces of 'Quatrefoil Panel' which I painted white.

I hope I have inspired you a little today!
Until next time, Lisa xo
